DHS has demonstrated again and again that it cannot be reformed through oversight alone. ICE and Border Patrol operate with broad discretion, secrecy, and immunity from accountability, and Congress has repeatedly allowed DHS to expand its reach through funding increases, reprogramming authority, and emergency appropriations. The result is more raids, more detention, more fear — and more people killed. As a constituent, I am asking you to take a clear and principled stand: - Refuse to vote for any FY2026 appropriations bill that funds the Department of Homeland Security in any form, including ICE, Border Patrol, detention, surveillance, or enforcement operations. - Reject all attempts to increase, continue, or reprogram DHS funding, including transfers that expand detention capacity or enforcement activity. - Demand accountability for the killings of Renée Good and Alex Pretti, including independent investigations and transparency around the use of lethal force by federal immigration agents.
